A lot of videos and posts are claiming big “new rules” for NEET 2027. This page separates what is confirmed from what is only expected or rumoured, so you can plan without getting misled.

NTA has not published the NEET 2027 exam date. NEET has been held on the first Sunday of May in recent years, which would make the expected date Sunday 2 May 2027. Treat this as an estimate until the bulletin arrives.

How many days are left for NEET 2027? If the exam is on 2 May 2027, there are 204 days left from 10 October 2026. This changes daily, and the date itself is tentative.
Will NEET 2027 Be CBT? What Is Confirmed
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced the shift to CBT mode after NEET-UG 2026 was cancelled over a paper leak. The NTA has also informed the Supreme Court about this proposed change.
What is not confirmed yet: the number of questions, duration, shifts, centres, navigation and marking details. There is no official confirmation on shifts, normalisation or similar details, so numbers like “5–6 days” or “20 shifts” should not be treated as official. If NEET is held in several shifts, NTA would have to announce how scores are made comparable.
Why the shift is a big deal: NTA sources said moving NEET UG online in 2026 was not possible and would have required nearly 20 days for all candidates. That is why details for 2027 are awaited from NTA.
What Happened in NEET 2026 (Why 2027 Is Different)
- The original NEET UG exam on 3 May 2026 was cancelled after paper leak allegations.
- Re-NEET was held on 21 June 2026 in pen-and-paper mode, with 180 questions, 720 marks and 195 minutes.
- NTA declared the re-exam results on 16 July 2026.
NEET 2027 Exam Pattern (Based on 2026)
NTA has not announced a 2027 pattern. The latest held exam is the best guide:
- Questions: 180 compulsory MCQs, with 45 in Physics, 45 in Chemistry and 90 in Biology.
- Marks: 720
- Marking: +4 for each correct answer, −1 for each wrong answer, and no marks for unattempted questions
- Duration (Re-NEET 2026): 195 minutes
Expect the 2027 bulletin to confirm if anything changes with CBT.
NEET 2027 Syllabus
The NEET UG syllabus is notified by the National Medical Commission and is based on NCERT Class 11 and Class 12 Physics, Chemistry and Biology. No new syllabus has been notified for 2027 so far. Until NTA publishes the bulletin, follow the latest NMC syllabus on the NMC website and neet.nta.nic.in.
Since NEET follows NCERT, keep your books ready. You can get them here: 12th class NCERT books and all NCERT eBooks.
NEET 2027 Eligibility Criteria
The 2027 eligibility rules will come in the NTA bulletin. For reference, the NEET 2026 rules were:
- Education: Class 12 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English.
- Minimum marks in PCB: General 50%, SC/ST/OBC 40%, PwD 45%.

- Upper age limit: None.

NEET 2027 Age Limit and Attempt Limit: Rumour or Rule?
Many videos ask whether an age cap or attempt limit is coming. Proposals for an upper age limit, attempt caps and a merger with JEE are currently unconfirmed discussions and not official rules. Until NTA or NMC notifies a change, the existing rules above apply. Do not make a drop-year decision based on a rumour.

NTA has not announced it. Reports expect the notification in February 2027, with the application window in February and March 2027. Apply only on the official NTA website. When registration opens, keep your Class 10 certificate, photo, signature and ID ready.
